Working Through Flying Change Issues | Nicholas Fyffe | PART 01
15m
Nicholas Fyffe works with Jimmie Schramm, an upper level Event rider and her competition partner, Bellamy, an Oldenberg Thoroughbred cross. Nicholas talks about how he warms up which is to do a marching walk with the neck low on both reins. When he becomes too light in the rein, he has her coaches her to keep him in front of the leg while keeping the contact. In the trot he asks her to keep the same shape with the head low before asking him to go long. They use the half halt to rebalance , and when she brings him back he has her activate the hind leg a bit more. The serpentine is added. She is competing in an Eventing Three Star in two weeks, and they talk about the specific movements in that test. (NOTE- the dressage tests for Eventing are different than regular Dressage tests.) Nicholas talks about how important it is to keep the horse submissive and ready for work at all times. They work on walk canter walk transitions.
