Part 1: Sharon raises the question of is her horse Gus Gus needs a running Martingale. Jimmy shares advice he got from Bill Steinkraus which is to train the horse to keep his head still without, but always have one in competition just in case it is needed. He goes on to share that when properly fitted, running martingales have no effect unless they are needed. Jimmy outlines the initial goal for Sharon to ride the horse around the course and not interfere with him too much so they can make an initial assessment of where he's at. He points out the marks of an experienced rider like Sharon, as she takes the horse around the course and assesses his strengths and weaknesses.
