13m
Catherine Haddad coaches aœgreen PSG horse, talking through all the points that the rider needs to check before entering the arena to rider their test. They start with the walk in a good forward rhythm before moving on the working trot rising in about a Training Level frame to warm up. They make sure they are straight, forward and in front of the leg. They check that they can send the horse forward and come back within the trot. Leg yield is next, and Catherine explains why it part of the warm up for any level. When they go to the canter they begin in a bit more than a Training level frame and gradually brings the horse up. They check straightness on the quarterline, add 10 meter circles and also for forward and collect in the canter. They school the counter canter after crossing on the long diagonal and prepare for a flying change at C. They repeat this in the other direction. As they take a walk break Catherine explains why with this horse at this point in her training they choose what to practice in the warm up as well as why they do it at certain places in the arena.
