Position of the Ribcage | Laura Graves | PART 01
19m
We join this pair as they are trotting in the warm up, and Laura encourages the rider to use his inside leg when she leans in on the circle. She explains that the position of the mare's rib cage affects her balance and asks for him to move it to the outside. Laura has him make the circle sMoller, then move out using his inside leg. They move to the canter, and Laura has him think of leg yielding into the trot with her belly to the outside. She helps him with his hand position, encouraging him to keep a low hand. After a walk break they return to the trot and work on the leg yield, and Laura gives suggestions for the use of his leg aids and his position. They also practice the leg yield in the canter with an emphasis on straightness. When the mare travels with the haunches in to the right, Laura has him fix it by thinking of the placement of the shoulders instead of using the inside leg to push the haunches out.
