Caroline Pamukcu’s head rider Lee Maher prepares a horse in a last show-jumping school before competing at Modified in a spring horse trial the next weekend. In the warm-up, Maher and the horse begin trotting over a slightly raised cavalletti both at the trot and the canter. Moving to a vertical, they show a clean change afterward and then go for landing on the correct lead. While schooling a single oxer, Maher practices taking it from various distances to be sure his horse is responsive to him. They next ride a line of four fences starting with an in-and-out. The first time through, the horse shows his greeness, but it improves with each time through. Maher increases the pace to the show pace the last time through.
