Part 3: Bruce encourages the riders to focus on uphill movement and using the half halt for engagement. When a horse tends to collapse in the canter, Bruce works with the rider to use half halts to put his hind end back under him and create a better transition. As the horses gain confidence in the canter, the pair work on walk to canter transitions and maintaining that forward, up hill feeling. Bruce coaches the riders to support the horses in their natural balance as they begin to collect the canter.
