Bouncy Show Jumping Canter | Hawley Bennet | PART 01
11m
Part 1: Hawley Bennet explains that when the horse is usually tired after Cross Country, it's the rider's job to get their canter back together and organized into a bouncy gait for the show jumping. She sets up an exercise with ground poles to help the riders achieve this and also train their eyes to start seeing their distances. Hawley sets up a course for the riders, who both struggle with being late with their eyes, and challenges them to use their line of sight early to achieve lead changes over the fences. As the riders try to get their eyes onto the next fence quickly, Hawley reminds one rider to keep her shoulder back and not lean forward into a vulnerable position.
