Steffen explains how it is more effective to come back and try the pirouette again shortly after making a correction, and how much the horse has to be able to perform the movement with energy and self carriage to move up to CDI classes. He points out that the spur is used for correction rather than as the aid, and then offers to ride and school her horse! (He takes his mic off while riding.) He schools the walk pirouette, clearly not using the spur, and then goes on to the canter pirouette. When the rider remounts, he instructs her to ride forward and back in the canter, and to not go to the pirouette until this is easy. They perform several canter pirouettes that are lovely, uphill, forward and light in the aids.
