DTO welcome Laurens van Lieren to the website with this upper level horse being ridden by a competitor in Young Riders. They begin the session by looking for relaxation and then add transitions to add engagement from behind. When Laurens asks for collection he specifies that the horse must be working over his back. As they go to the sitting trot they work on keeping him regular in the gait and using small aids. To prepare for the trot half pass they first check that when he's asked to bend to the left nothing else changes and the balance remains the same. He asks for a half halt within the exercise to check on his balance. With careful preparation they do some lovely half passes and then extensions in the trot.
