Catherine has the rider visit the canter pirouettes and explains how they work with a horse that is slightly behind the leg in the pirouettes. In the canter half passes they check how well the horse is moving away from the leg to X to a flying change, half pass back to the corner and another flying change. They practice collecting on the diagonal to prepare for the pirouette before riding the actual pirouettes. They dont worry about a mistake in the count in the changes, focusing instead on the straightness and jump. They take a walk break before returning to the canter, and Catherine discusses how important it is to practice the centerline to keep it forward, balanced and straight. They next halt on centerline and strike off into trot, practicing the turn right at C and going down the long side. They then practice the whole sequence but turn onto the diagonal, accelerating in the turn onto the diagonal.
