Next, they add lateral work to the trot while Scott points out how much impulsion is needed to maintain the consistent contact they are looking for.

Scott helps this rider and spectacular mare with finding relaxation, moving her shoulders slightly from side to side without changing the bend at both the trot and canter.

They work in the canter, making small changes with this sensitive mare. The shoulder fore helps with the balance. When asking for collection in the canter they get some unplanned changes and work through that without changing the pace. The collection is subtle and fluid.

After working through some beautiful collecting transitions they move on to lateral work. Scott offers great suggestions on how to improve the trot half pass.
