They use trot serpentines to check that he bends both ways and then leg yield from centerline to the long side. For the shoulder in on the quarterline they work toward less angle and more bend. They add haunches-in after a volte and give him a walk break. When they return to work, they ask him for more engagement with lots of transitions, eventually asking for only one walk step and then trot-halt-trot transitions. Cesar explains the importance of the halts being still. They do trot-walk-trot transitions in the shoulder-in position.
