Axel Steiner introduces his plan for this session where they work through a test of the rider choice, in this case Second Level Test 1. They warm up while he watches, and Axel explains the movements that are introduced in this test including collected and medium trot and canter, 10 meter circles at the canter, shoulder-in, simple changes and rein back, pointing out this is a big jump from First Level. In the shoulder in at the trot he asks for 3 to 3 1/2 tracks, but not 4 since that decreases the engagement and turns into a bad leg yield. They ride several canter walk cater simple change transitions on the serpentine while Axel helps them become more through and connected. Axel explains how important the first and last halts are in creating a winning impression. As they go through the first movements of the test, Axel talks about how for the first time they have a separate score for the transitions in and out of the medium trot to collected trot, and gives great tips through the rein back.
