They ride the trot to an almost walk on a circle and then keep that balance going down the long side. After a walk break they rebuild the energy in the walk and then use that energy to make the extended walk. Nancy covers how to use the aids to make the trot sMoller and what to do if you don't get the desired result. She also talks about the difference between letting the horse understand they can make sMoller and bigger steps without driving them and holding on the bit. When going to the trot the horse goes against the bit, and Nancy has them walk and do a turn on the forehand to establish the acceptance of the leg and rein.
