They now move on to the canter, choosing the right moment to ask for the depart. Ingo asks that she keep the canter forward, relaxing the topline. When the mare trots, he asks for the up transition while keeping the tempo of the trot. The quality of the canter is wonderful, but the mare struggles with the balance, and he has her keep forward. After a reversal of direction they even get a lovely depart by the auditors! They ride trot serpentines after the canter asking for stretch, and Ingo points out how wonderfully the horse stays active behind even in a longer frame. Ingo answers a question about the use of the sitting trot early in the training.
