Joyce guides the rider through asking the gelding to walk slower using her weight aids while keeping the walk four beat. The trick is to get an active hind leg without piaffe or passage! When they go to the trot she does ask for steps of passage, showing both a collected passage and more forward passage. As they start work on piaffe Joyce asks for it to be a little forward, and for fewer steps in front of the leg and a forward transition out of piaffe.
