Willy explains how he uses the lunge whip and his own body position as he lunges. He talks about why it is important to lunge with contact before he introduces him to the birdie and the use of the voice aids. When the horse offers the canter he allows it before calmly asking for the trot. Willy next show how he introduces the surcingle to a youngster. He uses a breastcollar with the surcingle and shows how he places it on the horse. They gradually tighten the surcingle after having started with it fairly loose. He suggests to keep the sessions short and more frequent if necessary rather than have long lunge sessions. Scott Hassler returns and sums up the session.
