On the second day of his clinic at Galway Downs Equestrian in Temecula, California, international eventer Tom McEwen works with the Beginner Novice horses and riders on suppleness and control using simulated cross-country jumps in the arena. He emphasizes straightness before and after each jump, developing and maintaining the canter rhythm, and students using their eyes to ride bending lines.
Tom was a member of the British gold medal-winning Olympic eventing team in Paris 2024 as well as in Tokyo 2020, where he also brought home the individual silver. Based in Gloucestershire, McEwen was awarded Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2022 for his outstanding services to equestrianism.
