The instructors instruct a rider aiming for one star, and her six year old prelim horse, focusing on the canter position of the horse. They work first on establishing that the horse is moving off the aides. The instructor notes that it seems to be taking 50% of the leg aide, plus some seat, to get the horse to walk off. They coach the rider as she works to correct this, while looking to do so in a non confrontational way through small transitions. With this established they work on the plane of the horse's body and avoiding letting him get his nose too low.
