Part 1: Doug begins the lesson by explaining the importance of changing the galloping position coming into a fence, which then teaches the horse that when the rider sits back, they need to rock back for a jump. Doug works with a rider and her horse who lacks confidence, getting into the saddle to demonstrate he explains the importance of sitting back for security. He encourages the rider to use the leg and ride the horse forward into her soft hand to help give him confidence, and be accurate with the timing of her release and reward.
